EXIT Makes History as Europe’s First Major Festival Since Pandemic

In the midst of chaos, there is also opportunity

Serbia’s EXIT Festival kicked off its four-day dance music event on the 8th of July, becoming the first major music festival to take place in Europe since the coronavirus pandemic took hold early last year. Since the festival was canceled last year due to restrictions, EXIT celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2021 hosting 40,000 attendees per day at the Petrovaradin Fortress in Novi Sad.

Skymusic Production, the Eurotruss partner in Serbia was responsible for the technical production of the festival. With two big stages, an enormous amount of scaffolding, and several smaller stages there was a lot of work before the festival. he Eurotruss PR10 20×15 has been the main stage construction for the last several years at Exit Festival, as you can see in the pictures it fits perfectly in the surroundings of the Novi Sad based Fortress.

For the second big stage, the Dance Arena every year EXIT Festival and Skymusic production let their creativity run wild and come up with an awesome stage design based on scaffolding, and a specially designed keder roof system

For the second big stage called The Dance Arena, EXIT Festival and Skymusic production let their creativity run wild every year and come up with crazy stage designs. This year the Dance Arena was based on scaffolding, and a specially designed Eurotruss keder roof system based on ST Truss. Next to the roofs lots of HD34 and HD44 were used at the event to rig all the LED Screens and lighting.

Each year it is a challenge to get all equipment to the location of the Dance Arena, all rigging, audio, and lighting materials must be transported through a tunnel that is 2.4 meters wide and high and 50 meters long.

The events lineup roughly included 300 artists, DJ’s and producers including Paul Kalkbrenner, David Guetta, DJ Snake, Medusa, and many more.

Apart from domestic guests, the largest number of visitors were from France, Germany, Turkey, Hungary, and the Netherlands.

Negative PCR Test necessary

A negative PCR test was necessary for entering the festival. Novi Sad’s Health Centre decided to conduct a study, a total of 345 visitors were divided into two groups – vaccinated and those who entered the festival with a negative test. They were tested before entering the festival and only one person was tested positive and was not allowed to enter. The testing was repeated after seven days, and the results were even more uplifting – not one person tested positive for Covid-19!

With EXIT, being a multiple winner of the ‘Best European Major Festival’ award it was only appropriate for them to reunite music fans, dance together, celebrate life, and return to normality.
